Along my doctoral journey I have had the opportunity to expand my reach as a scholar practitioner. When I started the doctoral program I was in my 10th year as a principal. The knowledge I have gained as a scholar has been a catalyst for expanding my reach in multiple roles. New roles that have emerged have been informed by the research and knowledge gained in the program. In addition to being a Principal I am now a Principal Mentor and Principal Coach for educational leaders new in the principalship. I have written grants with a focus of expanding diverse literature in school libraries and I am a Graduate Teacher Assistant in the Urban Education Doctoral program.
Graduate Teacher Assistant: As a doctoral student I have supported doctoral courses in the role of a Teacher Assistant. The courses I have supported in this role are Globalization, Urbanization and Urban Schools, Social Theory and Early Black American Literature. As a teacher assistant I supported the facilitation of class discussions and presentations, evaluations of student discussion posts and I maintained the communication pathways from students to the professor.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools: Principal Mentor: I have coached and mentored first and second year Principals in the areas of vision and mission implementation, instructional leadership, managerial leadership, micropolitical leadership and establishing climate and culture in a school setting. Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary School: Principal: I have coached and collaborated with staff and the Leadership Team on effective strategies and best practices for teaching and learning.
