My goal is to be a servant leader in my community. The doctoral journey has informed the work that I do in the community with research based approaches to close opportunity gaps in the areas of K-12 education, college admissions, advocacy, voting rights and social justice.
Queens for Change, Community Organization: I am the co-founder of Queens for Change, LLC. Our mission is to seek to uplift and empower black girls in the greater Charlotte area through advocacy and service. Queens for Change has organized food drives, Angel Tree Projects and hygiene drives to support local nonprofits in the Charlotte Area. Since I started the doctoral program we have expanded our programming and service to the community. Queens for Change has become part of the national discourse as it relates to the Crown Act legislation, we have partnered with local and state nonprofits to encourage voting registration and voter literacy. We have provided service to support homeless citizens in Charlotte by a continued partnership with the Pop Up Village. We have also hosted Queen Chats on topics such as Education Empowerment and College Scholarships. In January of 2022 we hosted a virtual Queens Empowerment Conference featuring our Keynote Speaker, CNN Commentator Ashley Allison.

Crossroads Corporation: I serve as an advisor on the Board of Crossroads Corporation. I have partnered with Crossroads Corporation, Charlotte Hornets, Lowes and Communities in Schools for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the newly renovated Grier Heights Community Center. The Grier Heights Community Center facility is an original Rosenwald School founded in 1927. The knowledge I gained as a scholar practitioner along the doctoral journey informed me of the history of Rosenwald schools as well as the significant history and struggle behind the formation of the schools.
Jack and Jill of America: I serve on the Foundation Committee for the Queen City Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. The purpose of the committee is to organize members to philanthropically give time and monetary donations to national and local nonprofit organizations. I have worked with the committee to write grants to support local nonprofits such as Communities In Schools Charlotte.
